We've had this boat for a couple years now and don't use the generator often. I checked the coolant tank on the generator and noticed that it looked like water only. This seems a little strange to me. Should it not be coolant?? If so, which coolant?
If it looks like water, you will want to test the antifreeze with a refractometer to see the level of protection before adding anything. If you cannot sustain below freezing levels, you will need to drain it out and replace with Dexcool which is good for aluminum parts. You will either buy 50/50 mix or buy the straight antifreeze and mix it 50/50 with water.
Thanks. That makes more sense. There isn't a concern about freezing since the boat is indoors and plugged in during the winter months. But there is the corrosion and proper cooling.
