31 PC Air Horn Compresor Location

The manual says to oil the compressor once a year. I was told it is behind the breaker panel at the right ankle at the helm. I took it off but dont see any compressor. On my 330 SS it was on the port side behind the settee seat. Looks like a pop can. Any body seen it on the 31 ?

My 27 has it under the step by the cockpit sink. Not accessible easily without some yoga positions.

So I've never found it on my 31 ugh

I keep giving up on it, but this thread has me excited again.

So I HEAR it running where you mentioned it is supposed to be...but it must be tucked up under and hiding somewhere.

Hopefully someone will chime in and help us!

I found the hose coming down from the starboard side arch goes under the shifters and Fomula says it is behind the breaker panel, but I cant find it.

A side question about air horn . . . . .
Is it normal to only get one short blast out of the horn,
then after about 20 -30 seconds another short blast ?

Yeah no, I can get almost constant blasts...something is up.

It might need oiled (if you can find it)

Or the horn might need taken apart and cleaned, the diaphragm gets wonky over the years and spiders like it as well.

Good Morning, All,

Here are pictures on how to locate your horn compressor on a 31pc. It is located behind your dash breaker panel, you need to remove the black tub, as shown to get access to the compressor.

On a similar "note": I remember talking about the Kahlenbergs with you a couple years ago. Did you ever pull the trigger? Wondering if the air tube is the same size....or if it requires two....and if the compressor would fit. My current compressor is behind the helm circuit breakers as well. It's an upgrade I've pondered for a while. BTW, I noticed the system utilizes an oiless compressor....

Good afternoon....

No, I did not...the $$ for that went into the college funds (for my kid not me :) )

Hi - I would guess the piston is sticking - I am going to shoot some WD 40 in mine as it calls for light machine oil once a year. When you need a horn you cant wait a minute as it may be too late!

Air Horn Compressor location for my 1999 Formula 27PC

Air Horn Compressor location for my 1999 Formula 27PC.

Called several Formula dealers and Formula themselves without success in locating it. Location is just in front of outside sink through a access panel behind the lounge seat on the port side.

To gain access, remove the lounge seat cushion by pressing it towards back rest and lifting up from the back rest end. Their are several screws holding the back rest located at the bottom of back rest only visible after removal of seat cushion. After removal of those screws lift back rest straight up off brackets and their is a round access hatch behind the cushion. (My rap around rear lounge seat cushion wouldn't fully come off due to several non-accessible screws) Horn compressor is just inside to the left (rear)

My early 90's 34PC is there too. Only I dont have a hatch, you have to remove the icemaker to get to it
