2007 330ss rear seat strut??

hello, I have a 2007 330ss. Love the boat. The rear seat storage area is rather heavy and the simple locking hinges don't reliably hold the seat back up. Has anyone done a conversion to a short gas strut? Thanks for any help
 
Interesting topic I could see a mod like that being useful and fairly easy to do. I've never had a issue with my rear seat but the 260 is much smaller than your 330. That said, whenever I open mine it never truly "locks" open unless I reach down and lock it out manually... When I do that never have a problem with it.
 
I agree this might be a worthwhile venture. I have an 2004 330 SS and one of my hinges is bent so it like to close at times on my head. Needless to say I either need to replace the hinge or maybe I will try that out.
 
Mine got loose too, so I just took the hinge brackets off tightened the pivot rivet by hitting it with a sledge hammer (with the rivet sitting on a vice for support). It tightened it up like new - holds fine now.
