Airsep filters on Volvo

I put the Airsep air filters on my 48 with qsm11 engines and it was a night and day difference. They totally reduce the turbo wine and do a great job of letting the engine breath. Absolutely worth the investment.

I was looking at these for my Yanmars. My Yanmars crankcase vents over the filter, did yours do that also? I can't figure out why they are designed this way, the filter gets oil on it and the engine is ingesting some also. I can rarely hear the turbo's so that's not an issue but I don't like the engine breathing the oil in thru the intake.

Nate, the Volvos vented to "atmosphere" through two paper filters wich takes the big droplets out of suspension I guess. Sure some got sucked into the intake air filter but I could always smell oil fumes in the cabin after a run. Much better now with the airseps.

Hi Nate,

I used to own the 40 pc with the Yanmars, Great engines, only thing I did not like was the Air Filter system. It had a breather that would vent to the atmosphere and after a long run the cabin would smell. Also, I change my own oil and found it better to use the manufacturer recommended oil. I tried Rotella, and although great oil it has too many detergents and would again cause the cabin to smell. Look into the Airsep's from Walker marine and see if they have a correction to the yanmar design.

Joe.
