Battery Question

boat is 2019 240 Bowrider. Was doing some things in the engine compartment and saw that BOTH batteries are DEEP CYCLE. Is this typical for formula bowriders? Deep cycle? Even for the STARTING battery?
 
All four of my batteries can came with my 2015 350 CBR Formula were Deka Deep Cycle AGMs. Starboard and Port Starting as well as AUX batteries.
 
My 34 PC came with Deka dual purpose AGM. Ask me how I know this! Just replaced both start batteries, man are they heavy. I wanted to spread out the cost, so I'll do the house batteries next season. Going on 6 years I figure the batteries are on borrowed time.

So funny! I just replaced all 4 of my Deka Group 31's 1 1/2 weeks ago. Yes, they are heavy, like around 70 lbs each. And Formula does a good job of placing them up in the hull in small spaces! I did all four by myself--it was a day project---good thing is that the battery supplier delivered the new ones dockside and took the old ones. I paid about $250/battery w/o the core charge. I visit the boat shows every year and meet the suppliers so I was able to have the guys "re-extend" the boat show pricing.

My batteries were 6 years old. I could tell that one was already gone with my load tester (only reading 6.41 Volts). One on the dock said REPLACE on the load tester. So, i think 6 years on the DEKA AGMs was pretty good life.
 
My 41PC has 11 AGM's and I have replaced two a season for the three seasons I have owned the 41 and the last set i replaced were 9 years old. I believe you cannot mix AGM's with Lead acid because of the Battery charger, there is a switch for either Type. Also $245 has been the average price with trade ins.
 
My 2016 270BR (8.2 engine) came with group 24 1000 amp starting batteries. If I remember correctly my 2000 260SS (454 engine) had 2 group 27 deep cycle or dp cycle/starting batteries
