Blisters

Decided to have the Bottom barrier coated and after the first scraping the hull looked like the face of an adolescent - filled with blisters the size of pimples. After consulting with the vendor doing the job and a local surveyor, it's not that big of a deal and a final sanding and drying out and then barrier coat the problem solved. Another surprise was that before the first coat of bottom paint was put on the bottom was never sanded - don't know the original dealer that performed that task, but just annoyed that on such a great product like a Formula, dealers still take shortcuts. Another thing I always thought blisters were a problem of cheaper boats.

I’ve seen blisters on Formula boats that were kept in fresh water, with no barrier coat. It will happen, takes longer than on ‘cheaper’ boats.
