Block heater

That's more like it. Thanks. Lg260ss has talked me into it. I'm going to do it his way, if I do it at all - I do have the heater. I much prefer the simple alternative, and I am still getting my learnings in power boat motors.

Just my thoughts on it.You are the one that has to decide if it is worth the risk but here goes................Remove block plugs, make sure you get ALL the block plugs and using a small screwdriver poke these holes to dislodge any debris that may block all the water from draining. Draining the engine water pump by removing the bottom lower hose. This leaves
the water pickup pump with water in the hose and impeller. You can remove the transom pickup hose located on the transom plate at the rear of the engine, remove coil wire, using a funnel pour RV antifreeze in hose while turning engine over till it runs out of all the plug holes. Reinstall the transom hose, to stop the threat of water siphoning into boat from outdrive. Should be good to go. If it is your first time talk to a mechanic and have him show you these drain points and hoses I have mentioned. One missed or clog drain hole can cost you from $0 to $10K....................Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!................Capt. Steve 8) 8) 8)

Thanks Capt Steve, yes I mentioned draining the block in my earlier post, and it makes excellent sense to follow the water with anti freeze. I will do that if I decide to winterize this year.
