Bonding metal to fiberglass

Just thought this might be useful for others:

The stbd strut on the garage hatch became detached from the hatch. Inspection determined that it is just screwed into the fiberglass, and the screws had stripped out of the fiberglass. Also determined that a previous repair had failed.

Over a period of several weeks, I tried repair with 5200, JB Weld 2-part epoxy, and construction adhesive to no avail. None worked to bond metal to fiberglass.

In another boat forum, I discovered product Araldite -- another 2-part epoxy. This product worked to solve the problem. Photos below show the fitting, the product and the instruction sheet. I have since recommended the product to my son to repair another metal-to-fiberglass bonding issue.

Garage hatch? Is this engine hatch or the lid directly over the engine area?
