Dock Box Refinish

Been gone awhile - great to be back! I bought a well-used dock box last season and am looking to repair chips and refinish the completely chalked-out finish. Anyone done this or have any thoughts on paint source and method, as well as any other useful mod tips such as installation of gas struts as opposed to the current flop top and chain?
 
six is it fiberglass? if you can do the repairs yourself and get it completely ready (completely disassembled and primed with all repairs completed to your satisfaction) you might try locating a truck repair facility and see what they would charge you to spray it. imron would be a great choice but might be costly. need to weigh the cost with a new one. adding the lift struts should be pretty easy, you can find 'em at the parts store or online.
