Engagement Proposal on My Boat

So, my wife and I were able to help my now future son in law pull off some great surprises for our daughter earlier this week on our boat. They've known each other for years as good friends but started dating a few months ago. My daughter had surprised him in Wisconsin for the 4th of July with a surprise visit with the help of his family. After her boyfriend asked me permission to marry my daughter over the phone about a month back, we decided that a payback surprise on the boat would be great, and he also wanted to propose on the boat. This called for a GoPro camera so I could capture all the fun. So, this Tuesday, I was able to head to the marina before my wife and daughter to do a "maintenance" project---which really was picking him up at the airport. The plan was to have my wife and daughter arrive later, short cruise on the bay, and then we'd go out for us three to have a nice family dinner at a local steakhouse. Little did my daughter know. Well, let's just cue the video:

Very cool to be a part of that and thanks for sharing. Funny how your daughter couldn't stop smiling once she saw your son in-law.

Looks like you're out of San Diego, seeing that aircraft carrier was awesome too!

Well done on the setup and video capture, thank you for sharing!

This reminded me how guests would always find the cabin door on my 350CBR to be a shock because it's so "hidden" -- when I saw the beginning I thought there's no better boat than this to hide somebody!

(This also makes me miss my 350CBR a bit, too!)

Seems like a very nice addition to your family, congrats!

Very cool. Are there rules as to how close you're allowed to get to a Navy ship?

In San Diego, all the active Navy Bases, to include the aircraft carriers, have barrier booms and armed floating security. For the USS Midway, it is a museum right in downtown. Everyone cruises into the small turning basin to create that memorable San Diego Bay experience right up next to an aircraft carrier.
