I DID NOT SEE THE 48 YACHT IN THIS YEARS LINE-UP. DID FORMULA CHOOSE TO DISCONTINUE THIS MODEL? I AM ASSUMING THE 45 HAS OUTSOLD THE 48, AND THEREFORE NO LONGER FEASABLE TO HAVE?

GSENT,

Thats what I heard also. I heard some actually traded in their 48 for the 45. It is a sweet piece of machine. I told the admiral I'm gonna get one of those someday and she said she will believe it when she sees it. ::) So each day I religiously by a lotto ticket ;D ;D ;D

At the Tampa Boat Show, my dealer told me the 48 had been pulled for possible redesign...to come back re-tooled much like the 45 coupe and maybe even longer..as a 50 footer!!
How sweet will that be?

If it's not standard equipment, it'll definitely be an option.
But WOW...what a great boat that would be! 8)

Have you guys noticed how the price has dropped on used 48's? Talk about depreciation! It would be nice if the beam on the 48's (an even the 45) was greater... these two yachts are only 5"-6" inches wider than my 41, they should be at least 14'6" if not 15' wide. The bargain would be to find a used 47, which they made a mistake on the powerplants thereby coming in with the 48. There are probably less than a dozen 47's around but they should be a steal when they come on the market. Any new models in a yacht configuration will certainly be available with IPS and possibly Zeus, although Formula seems to be moving away from MerCruiser.

GEORGE,
YOU CANNOT REALLY BLAME FORMULA IF THEY GET AWAY FROM MERCRUISER. VOLVO TECHNOLOGY HAS SURPASSED THEM BY MILES. I THINK WHEN VOLVO GETS INTO PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS FOR THE GO FAST MARKET, MERC. WILL BE HISTORY.
FORMULA HAS ONE HULL FOR THE 45 FOR CONVENTIONAL INBOARDS, ONE HULL FOR IPS, AND IF THEY CHOOSE ZEUS, THEY WILL NEED TO RE-TOOL FOR ANOTHER HULL. MERC. REALLY NEEDS TO BE A BIG SELLER FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I HIGHLY DOUBT IT, AFTER READING PRELIMINARY REVIEWS.

OK, it's snowing like crazy, my arm is in a sling and the liquor cabinet's been empty since '77, so.......is a 2008 45 yacht worth 300K more than a new 2006 48 yacht? Or is a 45 yacht worth 400-450K more than a lightly used 2004/2005 48 yacht?

The IPS technology is certainly the wave of tomorrow but does it almost render inboards obsolete? As fast as boats are depreciating in recent years, do you think we will see even greater depreciation as we move forward over the next 3-5 years? Or will prices of new boats stop escalating as we are in an economic downturn? It was interesting to see the comment in another thread where a 292 fas3tech order was filled really quick because of a "slowdown" in the production schedule. Ok, I'll stop typing an hit post, it is the only way to get a response to my questions!!

PS: should I ask the admiral to use the snowblower or fix me dinner?!! ::) ;D

GEORGE,
GOTTA WATCH HOW YOU HANDLE THAT SNOWBLOWER ISSUE WITH THE MISSES. I GOT MINE ONE WITH ELECTRIC START, TRACKS, AND STILL WON'T USE IT. SHE CLAIMS THAT ITS MY JOB. WELL I GUESS SHE IS RIGHT. WE ARE GETTING FREEZING RAIN RIGHT NOW, AND MAYBE SOME MORE SNOW TONITE. MAY NEED THAT BLOWER. GOOD LUCK WITH THE ARM. HOPE DOCTOR GAVE YOU SOME GOOD NARCOTIC FOR PAIN.
