Head Reset

Hi All....wow, was not aware of the new forum until today.

The head on my 2002 Formula 41 PC shut down due to the safety setting feature which does not allow flushing when holding tanks are full. I have had the holding tank emptied however, I do not know how to reset the head so that I can flush it. Anyone have knowledge regarding this issue?

I'm pretty sure that there is a level switch, in the tank, that, when activated, will prevent flushing. It's probably hung up, and still indicating full. A couple of options here: 1. Put fresh water in the tank, maybe 1/2 full and take the boat out for a spin. Hopefully that will free things up.
2. Pull out the level switch and manually clean it. ( probably not a fun job, use as a last resort)
Hopefully option 1 works for you.

Thank you GandDFreehold! I was thinking that I might take a rubber hammer into the engine room and bang on the tank a few times to see if that hopefully will free up the float!

I have cleaned the holding tank with a mix of sodium perconate and Tide laundry detergent. Let it sit for a couple of days and it came pretty much clean.

If you add a bit of borax and dawn to your holding tank it will help keep the water soft and slippery and we'll make sure nothing gets jammed up or sticks to anything and will also keep the smell down in your head. Borax facilitates oxygen in the tank and the typical smell from a head comes from the anaerobic process of all the waste breaking down. Adding oxygen keeps that from happening with the borax, thus no smell and no stickyness. Sodium percarbonate is the main ingredient in OxyClean so same net result as a Borax solution.
