how to prime mercury 8.1 engines

Hi,<br>could someone tell me how to prime the engines on my formula 37 pc with mercury 8.1 drives.<br>I tried last night for half an hour trying to get the engine to prime.

theres a schrader valve / fitting on fuel rail , ( my 2006 496 , I remove coolant recover tank to access it easier ) using a fuel pressure gauge cycle key on and off to build pressure and release air / gas thru pressure gauge

on my 8.1 DTS engs : turn key on for about 5 seconds,,, then off... turn key on again for about 5 seconds... each time you do that, the fuel pump comes on for a second or 3.

Tried for a 1/2 hour and it will crank but not run, I think something else is going on.

Was running without issue the last time it was used?
If so, what changed between then and now to need priming?

Are you talking fuel or seawater pump? If so inboard or I/O?

just saw you said drives.....
