I have a plan, what do you think?

I need to bring some place up on the F 20 to attach the hinges to for the sundeck. I think I'm going to make the sundeck in two pieces, so I'll have a place to store dock lines and such, so I don't have to get in the boat to access them.

Anyway, here's what I came up with. I'm going to make a box with an open end out of starboard, then attach it to the boat at the arrow. I'm making the bottom of the open end an inch longer than what I need to raise, and screw it into the boat. On this diagram, I had the two center pieces the same width, but I've rethought that, and made the top piece one inch longer, so it can sit on top of the riser piece. I think it will be stronger that way. If I had enough pvc board left, I would have made it out of that, then I could just glue them together.

I think I'll have enough room to mount opposing hinges so I can raise both parts. I have more of the longer hinges to use, I just couldn't find them for the photo.

From the pics I can't tell if it's going to work but I really like the storage compartment that is on the newer Fastechs. I don't blame you for wanting to copy it, I was bummed when I saw those knowing my Fastech doesn't have it

I have the box made. Now, I'm waiting for Debbie to get home to help me cut the hatch into two pieces.

I made much progress today, more than I generally make in six months!

I have the sundeck/hatch fabricated, all I need to do now is attach the hinges. On the trunk part, I stood up a piece of starboard to the bottom to hold it up. It should be going to upholstery soon.

I was originally going to make it all one piece. I just cut the aft end off the hatch.

I like incorportating late model amenities into an old model to improve it. That will be a nice touch when you finish it Cuda.
My cabin is going to get some late model updates to it too.
