Imron Paint Blisters

What has been the best materials and way to buff/compound and then wax the Imron paint? I had the boat shrink wrapped this past winter and now that we've pulled off the cover we see some scuffing in the Imron paint and I'd like to clean it up as best as possible while she is high and dry. Thanks

I have a 2004 280SS Silver Diamond Pearl... I had to have my entire boat repainted last spring do to Imron blisters (Noticed it at the previous Spring launch, but wanted to get in the water, it was too late to fix at that point)... This year when I had it shrink wrapped, I had them stop at the rub rail... So everything below was left exposed. Everything looks just fine. A wash and a wax and I will be good to go. I HIGHLY recommend this for all Imron painted boats. This will avoid all the trouble that has been expressed here, no water pooling, no scuffing/scratching no blisters... Plus it kind of looks nice to see that pretty silver paint all winter... :) I read this recommendation in a sail boating blog... I do not recall the exact one. ???

awlom

so you also had water or moisture that made the paint blister? or was it the heat gun that caused it.

Dude, I have the same blisters all over one side of my boat and am continuing to pursue it through Formula.

Sorry, i have not been online for a while... My boat was re-painted at Ocean Outboard in Long Island. They farmed it out to Bobs Auto Body. These guys are experts/certified in painting Imron. They did a really nice job. Just make sure whoever paints your boat knows what they are doing... Imron is a very special animal to work with... Not nearly as forgiving a Awlgrip... BTW, Ocean is no longer a Formula dealer...

Good luck.

There is nothing worse than asking the marina to do a service on your boat only to discover they damaged something else while doing it.. I have a 2000 34pc and this has happend several times over the last 8 years..
