Imron peeling

no dirty feet

Hello- I have the 1999 34 PC- I noticed trhat there are a couple of greyish spots on the top of the transom area --looks like paint worn off--I assume the grey is the Fiberglass--not going to repaint --from the sounds of that its an expensive deal but can I clear coat that or gel to stop it fron spreading??

Just in the white area--so not sure if that is paint or is it just the stripes that are painted on.. its almost not like its peeling --i believe its looks like it is just worn off.. but will have to take a better look in the spring once I unwrap it..

Honestly I think this is not the Imron peeling....at least based on what I know about Imron.

Also not sure the grey is fiberglass either...

I guess it could be worn through if something was rubbing on it for 10 years I guess.

When you uncover post some pics...would be interesting to see for sure.

Not to be funny but did someone put regular household floor wax or maybe a clear spray paint on it to shine it up before you bought her? That sounds like it to me.The white area is not painted.

Definitely sounds like gelcoat to me too if it is the transom. Shouldn't be primer there either, just gel and fiberglass. Shouldn't be difficult to fix. Order white gelcoat from Formula. The other thing is you could use any old white gel since either will likely need tinting due to the age of the boat. I recently did a couple repairs on the transom of my '07. They were done using gel ordered from Formula. The small repair on the transom just below storage door matched perfectly and you would never know it was there. The second was right where the round part by the transom shower meets the swimgrid. You could notice VERY slightly that it was whiter where it meets the non-skid but I mean VERY slightly and 99% of people would never notice unless you pointed it out. I suppose I would still order the gel from Formula to be safe. After the cost of that (approx. $100 the only cost is labour from the fiberglass guy. If there is no real filling required all he has to do is spray on gel, let cure, then sand and polish. Most fiberglass guys if they are good should do and only charge you three to four hundred tops. Good luck.

mine is on that rounded part as well -down toward the swimm platform and up toward the top -so if thats not paint then that sounds good --some gelcoat and sand/polish should be a quick fix--thanks
