Kenwood stereo

I am trying to change out the Kenwood Stereo in my '93 31PC. It has a KV50A 'locking' device that prevents theft. The procedure in the directions to remove does not work and after 2-3 hours(really) on the phone with Kenwood, they are no help either.
Does anyone have any experience here before I am forced to hit this thing with a hammer and dig it out of the wall?

Thanks

Not too sure, but if thats a detacheable face I think as long as the sleeve comes out with the stereo it shouldn't lock up when removed.
On another note I want to change my stereo in my 91 29PC but am not sure where the factory amplifier is located. Any idea??

Not sure if any of this is still a problem, but on removing equipment you might try calling Crutchfield in Charlottesville, VA. They have a great help desk.

As far as location of the amp, check all your closets or along the hull on the side where the radio is located.

Is your stereo a pull out or detachable face? If its a pull out you have to turn or the ignition for thirty seconds before it will pull out, and then you only have ten seconds or something to get it out. Detachable face should have little keys on each side.
