Lake St. Clair Area info needed

Hello,
Just biding my time to pick up our new to us boat this spring. After what seemed like endless searching I finally closed on a 2006 370ss that is located on St Clair over on the Ontario side. I am planning to bring the boat across sometime in the beginning of May to "check in through customs" at Kean's Marina and maybe stay the night. From there I will need to find a suitable ramp to wet load onto the trailer. Its been 20 years since I have been on St. Clair so I appreciate any local knowledge about this area. To say I'm excited is an understatement and spring can't come fast enough! Josh

Kean's I do believe could help you find a ramp....I know of a few place NORTH on Lake St Clair, but not directly in the River were Kean's is, but they are very friendly, so I bet they know....best of luck!

I am not sure if you can check in at Kean's (unless you have NEXUS then you can call in and go anywhere). See this link:

My vote would be Metro Beach for customs. They do have a boat ramp, its not as good as the one at the end of Clinton River on S. River Road (DNR launch) just a couple miles north and its where most large boats launch. You could stay at Metro for the night. For a boat that size I would think about the DNR ramp.

Thanks for the heads up. Only reason for Keans was because that is what the CBP officer said when I called. I would much prefer metro beach area if I could check in there. I google the ramp at the end of the Clinton River and it looks to be a good spot. Thanks again.

Thanks guys, I have been replying but apparently the mods have not relealeased any of my post. I appreciate the insight and I plan to use the Selfridge ramp based on your replies.

Thanks guys, Sounds like Selfridge is the way to go other than just having it lifted onto the trailer. Appreciate all the info.

Alright guys, So I just wanted to update this thread as I picked up my new to me 370SS last weekend. The boat was located at Puce Marina on the Ontario side of LSC. I called into customs prior to making the 15 mile run back to Emerald City Harbor and was greeted by two border patrol agents at my slip. They boarded my boat and assisted me with finalizing my import form CBP 7501 and then stamped my paperwork. The process was very straight forward and the officers were very pleasant and professional. The next morning I proceeded to the 9 mile boat ramp that was right next door to the marina to pull the boat. I was more than a little concerned when all I saw were small bass/fishing boats trailer lining the parking lot and not one big trailer in sight. Despite the dock being a little short and rickety the ramp itself was more than adequate to load the 370. I had an uneventful 275 mile haul back north to Traverse City which was a huge weight lifted from me. Now I can concentrate on detailing and getting the boat prepped for the upcoming Summer. Thanks for the advice and ideas about the area.

Congrats on the boat, she is beautiful. Also, great job getting all of the details worked out for a seemingly smooth ownership transition. Best of luck with her.
