Mecahanical Inspection Tomorrow

Hello Everyone!

I am in contract to purchase a 1998 41Pc, Cummins 6CTA8.3-M3 engines with approximately 1600 hours. I am doing the Sea Trial with the mechanical inspection and oil samples tomorrow. If all goes well, this will be my first diesel powered vessel. With is engine package and hours, what are the common issues that I could questions? I know the mechanical should uncover any issues; but, if there are specific items that commonly have problems I would be great to address tomorrow. Any input you could give is greatly appreciated.

Why don?t you like Yanmar? I?m in contract to buy an 03 40PC with Yanmar 440?s. I know there?s a potential intake valve issue. Anything else I should know about? Thanks!
 
Hard enough to find folks "that know" VP and even harder for yanmar
I would take Cat or Cummins any day
