Mercury Smartcraft SC5000

I just got my new 31PC. I had the factory install the mercury smartcraft SC5000 monitor system. I also had a raymarine C80/GPS/4KW closed array installed by the dealer. As I was reading through the smartcraft manual there are several screens that mention calculations that can be done based on GPS input data. Does anyone know if you can connect the smartcraft to the C80 with a NEMA cable to provide it with GPS data? Any help would be appreciated as I am not sure my dealer is totally versed in the SC5000 system.

I think you have to use the exising cable on the C80 and find out what wires are NEMA in and connect them to the NEMA out from the smartcarft

out of smartcarft into C80

Thanks for the info ;) I actually just ran across a small wiring diagram in the very back of the smartcraft guide that shows just what you stated. ;D

I have the Smartcraft 5000 and C80 installed by factory and they are connected, how do you know yours is not?

I am not sure but I am guessing because many of the smartcraft displays that are supposed to show GPS data are blank. I had my C80/GPS/RADAR/VHF installed at the dealer. I saved a bundle $$$$$ over the factory cost but I guess I have to deal with these issues. My brother had a Raymarine certified installer do his boat aftermarket. He was higher than the dealer and I was able to wrap my electronics cost into the Formula special financing. I also have an issue with the radar dome install. I guess I will pay the guy to come out and look over the install. He also does training which will be helpful. I am still going back to the dealer to get this stuff hooked up hopefully. :p :p

On another note does anyone know if the Bennett trim tabs NEMA module can be plugged in the C80? It would be nice to be able to see your trim tab indicator on it. TIA ???

Thanks to everyone for the help. Have a happy and safe Memorial day on the water ;D ;D We are going to stay overnight on the boat for the first time this weekend   It should be fun but an eye opener :D :D
