I just wanted to throw this out there. A friend, at our marina, just got a, new to him, boat with a genset. Never having used a generator before, he attempted to start the generator "under load", the generator stalled, he attempted an immediate restart, and boom, the muffler blew up. Apparently unburned fuel was in the system, and when he tried a restart things went bad. Fortunately no real damage other than the Muffler and some water in the bilge. He learned a valuable lesson, that day, never start your generator under load, wait until the unit is up to speed and running smoothly before closing the breaker.
