Just a heads up here.....

Anybody looking to update/upgrade their Navionics card for their E-series Raymarine Chartplotter? I just found the new Platinum+ card for 284.99. Anybody in the market, PM me, and I'll tell you where. The price is good through June 30. MSRP is 499.00, and the brick and mortar stores are selling it for that. That said, it appears that now may be a good time to update.

FYI, I talked with Navionics last week, and all the new Platinum+ cards are a 2009 edition. Looks like my 2007 Gold Card is going to be relegated to the RayTech Planner so I don't have to cart the card back and forth from boat to house and vice versa! If you don't have a use such as this for the old card, Navionics has a rebate program going on at this time upon return of the old card.

I have the Navionics Platinum Plus card which I bought 1 year ago this week for $ 460. (List price was $ 499. at the time).
Yesterday, I called Navionics and they said the following : Their 2009 version card is selling for $ 299. and they would give me $ 100. for my old card. In other words, they want another $200. from me just for the updates from last year. I am not even sure there are enough updates from last year to make it worthwhile. Navionics said the only changes were those which were made my the Coast Guard to Mariner's notices and such, and that I could check the Coast Guard website for a list of updates. Needless to say, I was not happy and asked if they could do better, which they said NO.
I guess I will use my 2008 version for another year.

I had a friend buy the update...and we compared my 2007 to his 2009. We could not find any differences...remember we are in the Great Lakes, so things do not change as much...but still...unless you know of areas that needed updating and were, save the $200...at least that is my opinion.
