NEW KVH M1

I have been thinking about buying one of those units for my 27pc, but I plan on buying a 31pc in the future so I will probably just wait.

Wow, that is a lot smaller than the M3. If you have a M3 now, would it basically be a swap with the plugs for install?

I dont think the power source wires n plug for the existing M3 receiver will swap out. I did call and ask if the cable is the same that runs to the sat and they said yes. with that said you may be able to run the existing receiver with the M1 but I am not sure.

I have the M3, the M1 is much lighter and would reduce the weight on my 34PC arch by about 20 pounds.

Has anyone done the research as to what each system can and can't do? I'm referring to the difference between the M3 and M1.

I asked for a quote on an installed M3 and received a quote back with an M1 - apparently they don't see a difference except in size, or they are trying to minimize their quote to make it look better.

So, instead of me researching the KVH site, does anyone already know the difference? Why would I go with an M1 over an M3, or an M3 over an M1?

spoke to the KVH guy at the boat show. M3 will have better off shore range then the M1. But the M1 is still good for coastal cruising. this is due to the smaller dish in the M1. the M3 might do a little bit better in chop over 4 foot. but whos watchn in 4 footers
