New to me 01 260 BR Questions.

Just bought an '01 260 BR with 7.4 MPI. Wondering what kind of speeds people are seeing with this type of power? What props is everyone else using with Bravo 3

The boat has dual batteries, I assume it will charge only if set on battery #1 or #2, not both. Any other input for what to watch out on these would be appreciated. Had the boat a month now and love it.

Thanks

260ss here, but similar... got a set of 22p props with the same 7.4 MPI and B3 I've seen about 45mph on GPS with a good load of fuel/people, you may see better as i believe yours is lighter.

As for charging I believe when it's on both it's charging both...... other than that I'd watch out for having a good time with it :)

Good morning Andy,

Thanks for the reply. What RPM are you getting? So far, I'm lucky to see 4300, but that was fully loaded fuel and four people. Thanks, and I'll definitely look out for that good time, but I think I may have found some of it already.

About the same rpm... Looking back through track logs looks like 43.8 GPS full tank 4 people, ocean with a little chop

The batteries will charge according to whatever you have the switch set to (because it does not know any better). A good guide may be too alternate usage or run with 'both' and anchor/play tunes on just one of the batteries.

4300 RPM with a good load on the boat seems to be OK. The max RPM range of the 7.4's is 4200-4600, so you are in that range, and probably would be more towards the top with a light load.

Thank you everyone for your informative answers. Here's another question for you.. I have a 7.4 MPI, the temperature at idle runs just below 180 on the gauge, when running at cruise speed, its just above the 180 mark. Is this a normal temp range? Running in South FLA, so water temperature is 86 degrees right now.

I installed new manifolds and risers about 7 months back here is some data from this weekend for your reference.

I went out of Katherine's Landing @ Lake Mohave, NV(650ft above sea level) was 110 out and water was about 78+/-. I had 8 people on board, full tank of gas(90gal),full water, full load of peoples gear and water toys(tube/wake board/floats), and two FULL coolers. It was as LOADED as it's ever been...

Engine temps at idle/cruise: 170/175
Max speed was 42 on GPS @ 4200rpm

Thought I'd add this as it's a 260BR.... I left my boat in a slip Thursday night with no other boats around.... When I arrived to my boat the next morning this is what was docked next to me

Late reply, but I have 2001 260BR with 7.4mpi B3 22pitch props, and bottom paint.

my top speed so far the s 41.5mph (gps) @ 4200rpm

i was hoping for more, going to remove the bottom paint this spring and see what that does. I was also thinking to try 24" props? We'll see. Maybe a procharger in my future.

Your boat might have come with an isolator installed, if this is the case you don't need to move the battery selector switch to charge both. Only need to move the switch if the motor won't crank over so you can use the other Bat or both together.

Look for something which resembles this
