Rusted Base Plate

My Kohler genset has a rusty base plate. Appreciate any suggestions how to prevent further damage.

I had a '99 400 SS which had a rusty gen set pan. I removed the pan and had the rhino liner sprayed on the pan inside. Worked great

Line x makes a very durable liner which you can have in any color. I did a 2014 Silverado bed with a color to match interior. You can get a gloss finish also. Just more options then the rhino.

I've got the same issue with mine as well. I am considering the Line-x option too as a buddy of mine has that on his truck and its a lot more durable than Rhino.
I also found that you can purchase a new pan for about $150.

Good suggestion gustaf on buying a new plate. I assume that price is from a Kohler parts online store? Has anyone swapped the plate? How much work involved?

I replaced my pan. Koehler has both stainless and painted pans available. I went with painted. I stripped the paint and got the pan powder-coated. You'll need some way to lift generator while replacing pan. My marina helped me with a forklift and chain. It took about a half hour to remove the old pan and fasteners and replace it with the new one. Koehler has a complete kit available with new hardware and isolation mounts. You have to be aware that the kit includes both metric and SAE hardware used for the installation.

On my 34PC, I noticed the drop from the pan to the gray water tank was very little -- meaning, gravity would not easily force the water to run out of the pan, through the drain hole and line. I'm considering seeing if there's a way to get a shim under the forward side of the drain pan to provide better flow of the condensation collected in the drain pan. If you're going to replace the pan, you may also consider a small shim to provide a better drain angle.
