Small Bubbles appeared in Paint (Port midship). What caused this and whats the fix?

I have a 2012 310FX5 that stays in the water April - October and then gets shrink wrapped and stored during the winters by my local dealer. Dealer notified me this week when they were getting it detailed and ready for pickup that there was a small section in the paint that has bubbles (Portside Midship) and they are unsure why or how this happened. I am looking for any information on this and have a message into Formula’s east Coast Service rep.

Ugh, this looks like it might be blisters. Where are these in relation to how the boat was wrapped ? I bet they did not have adequate venting and too tight of a wrap. IMHO the local dealer caused this....but more investigation is necessary.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hopefully I am WRONG.....but I have seen this before.

I agree with Toofast. Looks like the gun got too close and blistered the paint. Maybe someone from Formula will chime in and give us an expert opinion.

IMO there was something on the hull during original prep. I would send that pic to Formula, maybe Scott and see what they said. Even though I don't like shrink wrap on a boat, IMO that wasn't caused by it

So I agree, shrink wrapping NORMALLY should not cause that, but I think a heat gun too close to that area might cause that...MIGHT!

I do also agree, send those up to Formula...see what they think...good idea!

Imron is not supposed to stay exposed to water. If you shrink wrap right to the hull and water gets in there and sits for an extended period of time you will get bubbles. If you have Imron you should only to go the rub rail to make sure it doesn't get standing water in there.

I have a 40 pc 2008 and have small bubbles on the imron that you don't see unless you really look, this is on the port side transom corner near the door. Weird spot for blisters but a heatgun would cause this? Water is an interesting idea but doesn't seem to make sense to me.

greatly appreciate all the feedback. I will contact Formula again and follow back up with the dealer re. the shrink wrap. I had thought the same (that water got into that area while it was wrapped this winter or the heat gun got to close) The total area affected is about 6 inches by 1 foot and only on the silver stripe. Its port midship about 2 feet above waterline

Unfortunately it is definitely due to excess heat from Shrink-wrapping.

I Shrink-wrap my own boat from the gunwale up and am very, very careful not to get to close. Unfortunately due to the extreme sensitivity that the Imron has to heat, I have the exact same bubbles. Would love to hear if Formula has a quick fix although I don't think their is one other than wet sanding, filling and repainting which I know first-hand is a very, very timely and costly fix ;-(
