smart craft 5000

I BELIEVE THAT IT INVOLVES RUNNING A HARNESS FROM THE ECM ON PORT, TO ECM ON STARBOARD. THAN RUNNING HARNESS TO DASH AREA TO SMARTCRAFT UNIT. NOT SURE OF THE COST OF THE UNIT, BUT I WOULD NOT HESITATE IN HAVING ALL THAT INFO AT YOUR FINGERTIPS. CANNOT GET ANY MORE ACCURATE THAT THAT, AS FAR AS FUEL USAGE OR ENGINE FUNCTIONS.
LET US KNOW THE DETAILS. GOOD LUCK

If you have a late enough model boat then my understanding is that it is like GSENT said just plug and play. If the boat does not have the ECM that is adaptable to this system then more is required to complete an installation. Sensors and any other input that is not currently on the boat would have to be added to utilize all the data capabilities that this system has.
I think it is finally time that the marine industry is getting on par with technology of engine control systems. More engine control will make boating better.

AQUAFORCE , thanks for the info. I have a new 07pc and haven't had a chance to get it in the water .Took delivery in late Oct. I will check with the dealer and see haw much.

Good luck with that add on. I think it is a great system.

Oh...another function in the full smart craft control is electrically controlled shifting. No cable to the drive at all. Shifting is done with an elec actuator. If you go for a full installation. If I understand correctly the actuator is a bolt on unit that can just be added to complete installation but I haven't gone that far to know specifically.

I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT VOLVO PENTA HAS BEEN WORKING ON A SIMILAR PRODUCT FOR GASOLINE ENGINES. IT IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE DIESEL APPLICATION ONLY. GAS SHOULD BE OUT IN THE SPRING. I WILL BE CERTAIN TO ADD IT TO MINE.

been doing a little research myself. found a few articles on other forum's. so far, mercury marine can be contacted at 920-929-5000 for parts, and brett martin is the technical assistance guru that knows all about the system. his number is 405-880-1469. keep us posted on your progress. gary
