Two different pitch props?

All, was at the boat today and took a close look at the props. The Starboard drive had 26P props and the port side had 24P installed....is this normal? Not sure how I missed this....

Definitely not normal, I would get in touch with TAG to see what the boat came with. Probably the 24p's.

Thanks, that's what I thought.....very odd....didn't notice any issues all season but need to get it addressed before next spring. Will reach out to Scott at TAG.

I replied in ur other post. No that’s not right. What gears u running?

Great question....I need to find out. The Starboard outdrive was replaced by the previous owner in 2017 so I wonder if the gear ratio is different than the other drive which is why the props on that drive are 26P. That would be very odd though.....so now I'm scratching my head. I'll be at the boat next week and will look into this further.

Saw your reply to my other thread.....I'm very interested in going with 4X4's.

I would suspect you would have a huge rpm difference and you would have noticed something wrong right away. The DTS would never sync to start.

My guess is someone saved money instead of finding the right gear ratio drive. Some things people /mechanics do on 130k+ boat never surprises me.

We looked at a 34pc with mismatched generation drives once. I had to replace both drives on the 34 we bought and never once was mismatched drives even a thought.

Do not agree, only the Merc XR prop series has 4 blade front and 3 blade rear. The standard Merc 3 blade front/rear use same pitch prop

You may be right. TAG confirmed they should be 24p and since the starboard drive was replaced in 2017 it may be mismatched from the port drive. Urgh. Did not notice any issues during operation so I bet that is the case. I will report back once I know for sure.

Guys, was back at the boat today to take a closer look. Even more interesting is that the inner prop on the starboard drive is a 24P and the outer prop is a 26P. On the port drive both the inner and outer are 24P which is correct. I'm going to have the mechanical check the drive ratio on the starboard drive....have no idea why the previous owner set it up this way.

The one prop was damaged so they just installed what they had available. Just need another 24 pitch prop

Ding ding ding we have a winner!! Good call AllDodge! Mechanic confirmed that both drives have the same gear ratio (2.00:1) so it appears that the previous owner's Marina slapped on a 26p instead of a 24p.

I just noticed on my 370SS that I also have mis-match props. Port Drive has 26's both front and rear. Starboard has 28 front 26 rear. That would explain the sync issues I am having. What pitch is everyone running on their 370SS with 496HO? I have been thinking about changing to 28 but that is an expensive experiment if I lose too many RPM.
