Upgrade from Raymarine C80 to Axiom?

I had problems and frustrations with my DSM 300 sounder and C80 GPS chartplotter last couple of seasons quitting on me of course when I really needed to know my depth. I have read some messages on the forums that this is a common issue with the DSM 300. I was considering to replace the DSM 300 this season but as I look at the new Raymarine Axiom touch screens and the new sonar technology I am leaning on upgrading the C80 in its entirety. I am probably going to keep the boat a few more years so I guess its time to upgrade this system.

I wanted to check with the group here and see if anyone has upgraded their C or E80 system and may have some comments, thoughts, recommendations before I talk to a salesman? I currently have a C80, DSM 300, with an ST60 display. I do not have radar and I am not sure of the model transducer I have, I only recall it is a through hull.

I was hoping to fit the new unit into the existing C80 cutout without too much trouble? I assume I can go with the 9" unit?

I also assume the transducer would need to be upgraded as well. I haven't performed any wiring on the boat since I have owned it the past few years. Is snaking a new cable from my dash to transducer going to be a project?

Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

Will
