valve gasket leak yanmar diesel

I just got into a 2004 formula 40 PC. As part of the sale I had the dealer perform a valve adjustment for the YL2A-STP 440 HP engines. Since the service I have had an oil leak from the valve cover gasket. The diesel mecahnic came back to replace the gasket last week. The oil leak started again and I loose 1/2 pint everytime I take the boat out for a spin. I do go to wot each time for a minute or less and get 3400 RPM on both engines. Oil level is slightly lower on the port side where the leak was noted and I have added oil as needed.
Any ideas on why two gasket replacements have not worked? The company (Scott Marine Power based out of NY and Florida) is sending another mechanic down to check it out. Is there a design problem with the gaskets I dont know about or is there a special way these gaskets have to be put on?

Do you belong to boatdiesel.com

You do have to pay, but it's a wealth of info and many more members with diesel powered boats

Correct, Starboard engine is fine. Port engine weeping from valve cover. The head guy is coming tomorrow to fix it. Will post any new issues.
Thanks

I would call the Yanmar experts at Mack Boring and ask for technical assistance they can be very helpful. 910-792-1900. I run the same motors and they are great.

Had it fixed by a pro. Slow meticulous work - that's what is needed. He took off the cover, and cleaned all mating surfaces removed all glue and debris with a wood chisel, replaced gasket after first letting it set in the sun, glued it to the valve cover pan and then laid it back and took 30 minutes to slowly tighten down, watching for gasket slippage all the time. He told me not to run the engine for 24 hours and the job is done. No leak at WOT now.
