Vesselview Mobile

Has anyone purchased and installed the Mercury Vesselview Mobile kit? I have been searching the web trying to determine how to install on twin engines. There are plenty of videos and docs that instruct for single engine installations but nothing (that I can find anyway) for twin engines. I can't even locate the kit's installation instructions online.

Ideally I would like to try it locating it in the engine compartment as currently I do not know if my boat has the wiring to helm.

Is there another cable I need to purchase or a junction box or hub to connect both engines to the vesselview module?

Thanks for any help.

ok thanks for the info. I assume the engines are already bussed together then? I'll get her opened up this weekend and start poking around.

Guys, I've had the same question and have been foiled by lack of internet resources on twin engine installation, as well.

Turnbird, could you provide some detail as to which engine and which wiring harness you used? Perhaps a pic or two? I'm ready to take the jump but simply want to make sure that my investment is worthwhile. For the record, I'm dealing with 2015 boat / twin 8.2L engines.

Yes, I got one for xmas. I have a 2004 34PC w/twin 496 mags. I learned from mercury that 2003 was 1st year for smart craft and i need to look for Junction box. I quickly learned my motors had NOTHING like the cables or instructions i found online. What a pain to install. I contacted formula and they looked at my build sheet and said no J- box was installed. So, back to merc tech to guide me thru install. When they started talking can data and can bus power lines..... i thought, im out. Especially when they said to BE SURE ON TWIN ENGINES U DISCONNECT THE CAN POWER LINE OR ENGINE ELECTRONIC DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. All engines ship from meec labeled “STBD”. Dealer had to rename the port motor to “Port”
Anyway it took my dealer three visits to slip to figure all this out. 2 new blue can data lines, 1 new 4- way J-box and i am in business!! $350 in cables,j-box.
Vessel view mobile is cool. Rpm, volt, oil pressure, water temp, engine hours, engine error codes and a few more.
i use an IPAD to view data, but it reduces some of the vessel view funtionality, sine IPAD is not cellular.

Does Vessel View mobile replace Vessel View 4-7-9 screens by using your tablet/phone?

As I read the info, I'm getting the impression if you have a good tablet, you don't need the native screens....BUT....are there NMEA data sharing limitations with other devices??

At the time of my installation it was on my 06 31PC I was all new Smartcraft network from engines up to dash. I had the engine programmed by my Merc dealer and I installed Vessel View Mobile first. I was able to see the multiengine data on my iPad right away. Problem was iPad and/or iPhone got too hot in the sun very quickly.

Months later I replaced my old Raymarine C80 with an Axiom MFD and radar. I installed a multiengine gateway and created a N2K network along with a Raymarine i70S. I left the vessel view mobile in there as a backup for the MFD.

It worked very well for me.
