Volvo D6 Anode for Intercooler ?

I am trying to get ready for my first Annual Maintenance and I am struggling finding the part number for the Anode for the Intercooler....as my manual states on Page 75.

In doing some research, I found some "notes" that there is NO LONGER an anode on the intercooler and that Volvo simply did not update the manual.

I have a 2009 D6-370D-B if that helps.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Jedd,
Marine parts express.com has been my Volvo OEM resource for years. Give them a call, they have all the answers and are glad to help.

toofast,
do you see the square bolt head for the plug that holds the anode? should be the aft most portion of the intercooler underneath. the anode part # should be 838929 based on this diagram...
http://www.volvopentastore.com/Char...on_id.367352165--store_id.366--view_id.780086

for anodes, i usually use boatzincs.com...
http://www.boatzincs.com/Vol838929.html

for what it's worth...i think they're consistent across the D6 product line as this is the same part on my 2008 D6-435D-A.

hope this helps,
tw

Awesome and yes that helps for sure....thank you thank you!

And I like $4 vs $11 for sure!

Thanks again!

Hey, I have a noob question. I have VP 350s and boat in freshwater. I found and replaced the anodes for the out-drives using magnesium versus zinc for freshwater. I can't seem to find the magnesium equivalent for the engines (intercooler and heat exchanger). Do they only offer them in zinc for the engines?

Also, do you change the plug with the anode or just the anode? Thanks for your help gents.

are yours D6 350's? not sure which model you have, but if they are the D6's, then it's the same part. you can look through the volvopentastore link i posted earlier and search by your engine specifically...but i would suggest calling Boat Zincs. they are very knowledgeable and very helpful! i'd be surprised if they don't have magnesium for you.

The later D-6 370's do not have inter cooler anodes. They did add a large anode in the exhaust downpipe. Its a $80 gem that takes a limber contortionist to get to......

Too fast, on the D6 of your vintage I believe the one you are looking for is by the raw water pump, at the bottom of the cooler end cap. I have the same boat.
