Winterizing a Closed Cooling System??

I will be closing on a 2001 40 PC this week......just in time to winterize it!! The marina will be winterizing the boat. My question, they want to charge me to winterize the motors, $90 a piece, but the cooling system is closed. Besides checking the antifreeze, what else needs to be done? Am I missing something?? If it matters, this boat has V-Drives, the boat will be wrapped and stored outside in the balmy Minnesota winter weather......for the next six to seven months...ugh.

Thanks,
RJ

There is an entire raw water side even in a closed cooling system. Raw water intake, seacock, strainer, raw water pump, heat exchanger, risers and exhaust plumbing.

Indeed. Great idea if you can be there to witness/observe how they Winterize the Engines. In doing so, you can do it yourself next year.

That said, what about winterizing all of the other systems i.e., HVAC Heat-pump, Fresh-water, Generator, etc.?????

I never thought to hang around and watch them winterize the boat. It would be a great way to get acquainted with some of the mechanics.

They will definitely be winterizing the entire boat.

Then by all means try to budget 4-hours to be there to see the entire winterizing project.

Not only will you get more familiar with your boat's systems but next year you'll ave a heck of a lot of money ;-)
