WTB a replacement Kenwood KCA-RC50MRB replacement

I have a KCA-RC50MRB remote installed in the dash, and the volume buttons have worn thin. They work, but I'm on borrowed time so trying to find an exact replacement rather than start all over with a new system.

Yes, it's discontinued. I checked eBay, nothing there at the moment. From what I can tell, Kenwood has an updated remote (KCA‑RC55MR), but not clear if it's a 1 for 1 direct plug replacement. I have the same discontinued remote in the stern near the swim platform, so trying to make this as simple as I can.

Thanks Andrew, it's great to be back on the water again, and using a VBulletin Forum. :) In my hours of research, I came across a lot of information. I know the 55MR won't work, it uses a single DIN connection not available on the head. But the 35MR appears capable of using the existing single wire IR connection to the head. I have a message into Crutchfield to put the issue to rest.

My fear is Crutchfield may become just as confused if they call Kenwood. It's my understanding Kenwood Support frequently insists there was no such single wire InfraRead connection on the back of the head. Technically they are correct. A 3rd party added this function, which I believe has contributed to all the confusion. I'll see if Crutchfield can pull one out of the box and take a photo of the back.
 
oops, nevermind. Looks like the diagram you provided shows the single wire I'm looking for. I'll order it today.
