Zinc Anodes on Formula Inboard V Drive Installation

I am trying to figure out whether there should be Zinc Anode's on the V Drive Shafts on my 34PC with Inboard installation. There were none when I was delivered the boat last year, but someone mentioned it to me this year and I was not sure about it. I just have the 2 large Anodes on the back near the trim tabs.

Does anyone know about this on an Inboard installation ?

I COULD BE WRONG, BUT I BELIEVE FORMULA INSTALLS SHAFT BRUSHES ON THE SHAFTS IN THE ENGINE ROOM. THIS COMPLETES THE BONDING PATH. ADDITIONAL ANODES ARE NOT NEEDED, BUT BRUSHES REQUIRE INSPECTION TO SEE THAT THEY ARE NOT WORN.

Hi Doghouse III, thanks for the info. Can you tell me more about what a shaft brush is ? When I am on the boat tomorrow, I will take a look in the engine room to look for them.

Thanks

JAM,
SOMEWHERE ON THE SHAFT GOING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION THRU THE BOTTOM OF THE BOAT, IS A BRUSH THAT WILL RIDE THE SHAFT. IT WILL HAVE A HEAVY GREEN WIRE CONNECTED TO IT AND RUN TO THE MAIN GROUND BLOCK. THIS CAN WEAR OUT OVER TIME, AND NEEDS INSPECTED PERIODICALLY.

There are shaft brushes which are connected to your bonding system, however, they are in the bilge and difficult to see and subject to corrosion. I would count completely on them. On my 34PC with inboards and V-drives, I have the 2, large and expensive plates on the transom, plus I run a shaft zinc (1.5 inch), on each shaft as well as round plate zincs on each rudder. I moor in a river about 2 miles in from the ocean and the rudder and shaft zincs need changed once or twice a season. Zincs aren't cheap but corrosion is worse.

I have brushes on my v drives but I also installed zincs on my 2" shafts which last about 9 months. I Don't think that you can have to much zinc protection.
