Isinglass cost to replace?

are you talking about from Formula? i would suggest a local canvas shop. or you can buy the materials at sailrite.com and do it yourself. i don't recommend that though. otherwise you would have to call Formula. i'm sure they would be quite expensive through them.

Call Formula Get the part number for your boat and call Amerteck. Your local canvas shop will be twice as much! Look up canvas on this site and you can get more info very helpfull!!

I respectively have to disagree with Tufftimes.
I see canvas guys at my Marina all the time. These guys are fighting for the work. Get some prices from the locals. The competitive market will save you $$$$$$$$. Not to mention, it will be custom installed to your satisfaction.
I've never heard of a dealer Auto OR Boat that subscribes to the theory of competitive pricing.
After market stuff may be a different story but my guess is that you'd need to install it yourself, and what are the odds that the snaps will line-up ??

I second the disagreement....

Meaning we have a dockmate that does canvas, etc.

Freind of mine priced factory (searay) vs. this local guy.

Local guy was 1/2 price and much better quality, plus the personal touch. Just make sure and check out his work before..thast is the only issue with local guys, they can be great or really bad.

I live in Greenwich CT where the prices can be a little high. I was quoted $5500 to re do the canvass and isi nglass on my 41 PC. Can any of you guys with similar boats tell me what you have paid or been quoted recently?? thanks

boathound, I can't answer your pricing question, but one suggestion that I liked was that if I do have to buy a new rear section, to go mostly canvas with a more simple Isinglass window. It would be easier to care for and cheaper.

boathound, i had a dock mate that replaced every piece of the canvas on a 2000 340 searay sundancer. it was done by a local shop and looks perfect. it cost him about 5500.00 for everything.

Boathound, I used American Canvas in Mamaroneck in 2005 for my 34PC an they were $4400 then, but the work was superb. I would think to do a 41PC now would be in the neighborhood of $6000. I also think if you order canvas from Formula they will send you the snaps so you can match it up with existing studs on your boat.

I have just been threw this summer. I have a 400SS Need canvas and isonglass so i used the canvas guy in town and has a boat in my Marina and seen his work. Paid him up front for material ect. Waited a month got the canvas to was a hack job nothing like his work that i had seen, stiching was all over the place velcrow missing other side, could not zip in isnglass at night when it was cool out Ect. paid him 5k for this i got taken! Called Formula dealer, 3800.00 for every thing. This is the findings for my fist posting,

Shekmark sorry to steal your post. Thanks for the opinions guys. I thought $5500 seemed like a lot but I guess not. Back on the subject of isinglass. Do the clip on snaps on the windshield drive anyone else nuts? Mine are always sliding around and falling off. I am definitely going to go with permanent screw in style saps when I replace the canvas.

Ha, no problem. It's all related and helpful. I am getting a 2006 330 ss surveyed on thursday. Missing the side panels, but the bimini's are there. Repo boat. I almost feel bad taking advantage of anothers misfortune.

I ordered all new canvas and isinglass for my 370SS last year from Formula thru Glencove Marine at a cost of $3600.00. A local canvas shop installed the snaps(included) for $50.00. The canvas shop told me they couldn't custom make the canvas and glass for less than $4600.00

Shekmark, good luck with the 330, it's a great boat. Don't feel bad, you are not taking advantage of the previous owner, you are taking advantage of the bank. (probably GE Capital?). I bought my 41 PC from them a little over a year ago and no regrets. Make sure you have the engines surveyed too. The process of getting through the distressed inventory is part of the healing process for the market and prices will not stabilize until that process is complete.

Ok just got 2 quotes for my 400SS canvas after the roof feel in on it! The local new guy in town 4800.00 Formula dealer 5000.00

I think if it were me and that close, I would go with OEM...the factory stuff in my opinion is pretty solid.
