Replacement canvas

Plan Ahead

Has anyone had to replace pieces of their canvas? Our starboard windshield canvas flew out of the boat and sank like a rock! It was made by Ameri Tex Technologies but we've tried for days to get intouch with someone there but nobody answers the phone, (may be a bad sign ). Any suggestions, we have an 05' 40PC with a hard top. Thanks.
P.S. I've just read Ameritex is in bankruptcy!

Have you tried a local canvas shop? I'm in the NW Indiana area and have used one a few different times. I think most of them should be able to match colors, styles, etc. Good Luck!

You could also call a local dealer and see what they say...or Formula Direct as well.

But I second Random's thoughts on a local canvas shop...most likely the least expensive option as well.

I just replaced the entire canvas set (top & camper) on my 2001 34pc. The cost for the entire set was at least 50-60% less than a canvas shop I called Formula parts and got the part numbers for the set (kit). You will need the HIN number. Formula parts will pull-up the kit and separate part numbers. Then call Ameritec direct. They are still in business. Give them the Formula part number and they will quote you a new part. The part will be the exact OEM. One thing you need to know. Canvas parts come with all the zippers but do not come with snaps. You will have to install the snaps yourself. This is not a big deal if you're handy otherwise you will need a canvas shop. I could not be happier with my new Ameritec top. Hope this helps.

I totally agree...I ordered replacement bimini top pieces in June, through Formula and Ameritech.

Local canvas makers were 50% higher on the quote, and they would not promise exact fit to existing canvas and isinglass.

BTW, to all non hardtop PC owners: I changed bimini color from blue to white. The white bimini is significantly cooler under. And I think looks much better than blue, black, silver, tan, etc. tops which tend to fade over time, and frequently no longer match the hull side strips or hull color. A white bimini was the best money I ever spent on the boat!

Me too. I got the black canvas because I was worried about keeping it clean. I do agree that white would be cooler in the Sun. Let us know how you make out with the dirt.

Just wondering if RDOBROSKI was ever sorry he did the white replacemant canvas back in 2009. I heard it's a bear to keep clean.

I never did the white Canvas. I have tan canvas on the 31PC. I do have white canvas covering my sun pads and yes, it is a bear to get it white again. Of course, I neglected it during the year. I used a magic eraser (I think Gary gave us that tip) and spray nine outdoor furniture cleaner to get it white again. It is about 90% clean. I would not own white canvas.

Hi, I purchased 60% of my camper top in March. the person I dealt with was very helpful:
Chyerl Foster [cfoster@ameritexfabrics.com]

The number is 941.747.1900. The tops came perfect. All zippers were installed, but the snaps came in a bag and had to be put on. They are part of Taylor Made, so I'm sure they aren't going anywhere. Maybe its a busy time for them.

They have the exact dimensions for your boat and program them into their computer cutting so you're going to get a factory fit. It was a little difficult to understand what parts I needed to replace and ended up buying some I already had, but now they are new looking. I think the side curtains are sold in pairs, so you will have the same issue. Here is the pricing I was given:

Here is a list of the parts from the windshield to the arch.
103589100-001 ? Connector - $683.11
103545100-001 ? Bimini top - $425.37
103546100-001 ? Bimini boot sleeve - $120.62
103590100-001 ? Bimini side curtains (sold only in pairs) - $657.62
103547100-001 ? Bimini arch connection - $334.74

Here is a list of the parts from the arch to the aft
103550100-001 ? Camper arch connection - $193.82
103548100-001 ? Camper top - $534.98
103554100-001 ? Camper side curtains - $454.05
103553100-001 ? Camper aft curtain - $762.19

Good Luck!

And to the posters who claim white is difficult to keep clean, I put them up yesterday and there are already some dirt spots. I made the mistake of taking a nacho break and now have orange stains around the newly installed snaps. LOL.

But as pointed out above, Magic Erasure is a gift to boaters. It has restored my vinyl to brand new condition. Must be alien technology or something?
