I just assumed 39 or 40 to be safe.

I had a 1995 34 PC with the 8.2 L gas engines. Wonderful 10 years...EXCELLENT POWER & Performance. 1000 miles per year, Yes ..drank gas like a college boy drinks beer! Enjoyed it. Note mine was a 34.

When do most people use them? Located in cabinet right behind shore power connection on transom

Where did you get the rings around the pedestal inserts?

I live 3 hours away but will ask my marine tech to look . But I feel certain that there is a backing plate even though difficult to reach.

I will try to find out.
