'05 34 PC - 8.1 Horizon V Drives - Clunking at Idle in Gear

So my first time in the water this spring, everything seemed fine just as it was the end of last year, but my Port Side Engine/Tranny (V-Drive) is making this very noticeable Clunking Noise with the Tranny in Gear at Idle Speed. Very strange as its only happening at Idle Speed when in gear. If you take it out of Gear and Idle, its fine. If you run the boat hard at upper RPM's, runs like a champ, not clunking noise. Curious if anyone has seen this. My dealer is going to look at it and things it might be a miss in the engine caused by bad spark plugs or wires or maybe an injector. In either event, its always a headache with something like this. Would appreciate anybody who has seen something like this.

I had a '93 Four Winns with a rebuilt OMC outdrive that did that exact thing after a 10 hour breakin period. They said it was a seperated bearing in the gear box. I didn't hang around long enough to find out as I had had enough with trying to get her back in the water. So I pulled it into the dealer that did the rebuilt install and trader her for a new 2001 Chaparral 260ssi.

Did you take off the props for winter? It sound slike a prop reinstall problem.

Sounds like the damper plate/flex plate on the back side of the transmission is starting to go. Eventually you won't have any power on that side.

Years ago Mercruiser had this problem with the 454Mag Horizon VDrive setup.
