07 400SS wet floor under mid cabin

First weekend on the new boat and we are still learning and figuring stuff out. We were putting the bedding together in the mid cabin and noticed the carpet near the back wall below the mirror was damp. First thought was maybe the window leaked when I was washing the boat but there is nothing that indicated that was the cause... maybe condensation but I think it was too much water for that... I did have the AC running so I’m thinking maybe it from that. Anyone have any ideas? We pull the mattresse out to dry it out but I need to track this down before we start getting mold.
Thanks Aaron

there is an access panel at the foot of the bed that might allow you to look behind that mirror and see if you see anything.

My 2008 350 had the same problem.. turned out to be the accumulator pump, which is just behind the access panel located aft cabin on starboard side. I replaced the accumulator pump and solved that issue.

Breaking in the bed? Must have been a good first time out.

The shower sump is under the bed roll back the mattress and have a look. The sump and bilge need to be cleaned occasionally. May be the source of your moisture

I looked in there and everything seemed to be in order but I'll need to dig alittle deeper... I have a lot to learn, this thing is way more complicated than my 330...

I had same problem in my 09 40SS, Same location and it only happens when it rained. So figured it out, I was missing the piece that slides in to the track on the hardtop for the cockpit cover. So when it rained water somehow seeped down to aft-cabin. Now that I have the cover attached to hardtop, my problem has been fixed.

Boating37, are you the same guy that I talked to about buying your old Nortech 3900V? If so, how do you like the 400 SS after coming from an MTI? It's nice to have the room to spread out and actually invite a few people, but still miss the speed and poker runs a little.

First off, go grab a 30 pint dehumidifier and place it in the mid-cabin for a day or two. Run the hose into the shower sump or bilge. I leave my dehumidifier running all week in the head with the hose running to the shower drain and the door open. This really drys things out nicely. Weekends when the kids track wet feet in the galley area are tackled.

On my 400ss, there is a hidden hinged access under the bottom step entering the cabin. Many don’t realize this is there. A couple times a season I wet-vac it out. There is a closed chamber under the port side mid cabin opposite the side with the sump. Make sure that you have not had water enter and get trapped (if the plug in the engine room is in place, but the one under the hidden step is open). If water drained from the top deck it’s plausible that this could cause the water by the mirror.

Boating37, Thanks so much for your post. I was having the same problem. I noticed when my canvas were up and it rained hard there wasn't any water in the aft cabin. But when it rained hard with my cockpit cover I would get water in the corner of the aft cabin mattress. I don't have the slides on my radar arch. I need to get those installed. Thanks again for your post.

Hi Advantage, yes that’s me. I enjoy boating a lot more with family and friends now. Don’t get me wrong I do miss the speed at times but I have used this boat more in the past year then I used my MTI in 3years.

Ah, I thought that was you. Yeah, I hear you there. I feel the same way. The 400 SS still looks cool and sporty, runs good for what it is, and can have family and a ton of friends on the boat for the day. And there's more surface area for speakers and subs.

I have a 06 370SS and have the same issue. Water in the Aft Berth Starboard side. I am in the process of tearing out the trim pieces and headliner to find this leak. I have removed the little bin storage box at the foot of the bed, and the carpet was soaked with water. I noticed that someone mentioned an accumulator pump...? Where would that be located? I hope this is an easy fix. Thanks!
