07 Silver Diamond Pearl Imron Paint Purchase

Unforgettable

New member
A raft-up over the July 4th weekend caused some minor damage. I just pulled the boat for the winter and need to purchase 1 Quart of Imron Silver Diamond Pearl Paint. Can someone steer me in the right direction to purchase the paint????? A "local" fiberglass/repair person familiar with Imron repair informed me that there are over 2,000 different colors.....

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance!

YOUR DEALER OR FORMULA WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE TO PURCHASE THE EXACT REPLACEMENT PAINT.

Good morning.

Unfortunately my dealer i.e., Passport Marine has gone out of business. Do you by chance have a contact number/person at Formula that I can talk to?

I KNOW THAT SHIPPING OF A HAZARDOUS MATERIAL COSTS ALOT OF MONEY. MAYBE YOU CAN WAIT TILL DEC. 9TH, AND JOIN US IN DECATUR FOR OUR CHRISTMAS IN DECARUR PARTY. YOU COULD PICK UP YOUR PAINT THE SAME TIME.

Yep, Factory can help for sure..but for me shipping hazmat alone was over $100.00...not formulas fault of course, but crazy expensive to ship

I am out of the office until thursday but I think I may have an answer for you later that day. Will be in touch after I see if this will work..............Capt. Steve Glencove Marine 8) 8)

Well................I thought I could help since we mix our paint in the service dept. but after talking with our painter Butch it is not looking good. All of the Imrons since back in the 80`s are listed in our computer matching system with the formula to mix all of these colors.............except for two. One being Champane
the other is (you guessed it) Silver Diamond pearl. Butch told me that the factory came up with the base color of silver then a local Dupont painter came up with a mixer paint, they put the two together and poof.Silver Diamond Pearl was created. Butch told me that if you order from the factory with standard mail the Haz-mat charges are less. How much paint do you need? Butch just got a 05 400SS Flagship Silver Diamond Pearl boat in that he is going to completely re-paint both sides on so he is going to order paint soon!

Selpel,

The "champane" color, is that the same as "morning sand" for the 2008-present color option from Formula ?

Unforgettable, the base coat is NOT Imron, but a Dupont chroma metallic paint, and the clear-coat is the Imron which yields the durability, etc. You might be able to acquire that locally with the right paint match combo.

If you set the two side to side you will see a silver cast to the Morning Sand paint. We have had a color match gun brought to the marina and they cannot match Silver Diamond or the Champagne either. It has been a problem with our painter he has spent many hours on the phone with Formula and DuPont and in the paint booth trying to make it work........... 8) 8) 8)

Good evening. I'm told that 1 Quart should be more than enough. Is the paint code for Silver Diamond Pearl in 2005 the same as that used by Formula in December 2006 which is when my boat came off of the line? Or is this something that I should check directly with Formula on?

Thanks for your invaluable assistance. It is greatly appreciated.....

Unforgettable, I believe they are the same but will ask my painter Monday when he returns to work. Will post as soon as I find out............... 8)

Unforgettable, I know this thread has been dead for awhile, but I was wondering how you made out with the Emron ??
I think I have the same finish and was wondering if the paint job requires some type of specialist. I have a guy that has all kinds of confidence in his work and says he can do the job but I'm reluctant. Is it an easier job than I think it is to match the finish??

Unfortunately the repair has NOT been made yet.

No one in my area can do it for less than $2,000 and right now, $2,000 is definitely not in but budget to make the required repairs.

It apparently is very, very difficult to feather out the metallic paint / imron finish and the boat must be in an enclosed area when painted.

I can tell you that each and every time that I come along the port side, the only thing that I see are the scratches. It truly sucks.....

The moral of the story is be extra, extra, extra careful when you raft up next to someone that don't know. More important, use "YOUR" fenders on that side of the boat which unfortunately I did not do.

Thanks for the update. I feel your pain :(
I climb over the scratches every time I board.
I think I'll do allot more homework before moving foward. It will freak me out to lay out big bucks and get a less than perfect job.
Your right IT SUCKS !!!

The Imron hull side is beautiful, but times like this is when you wish it was just white gelcoat that most anyone can repair.
