2000 Formula 271 FASTech Rubber Drain Plug in Bilge?

There is a rubber drain plug forward of the motor in the bilge area. It is attached to a wire and has a tightening mechanism to keep the plug in-place and close that drain. I presume the plug is to prevent water from the bilge to enter into that drain and work its way forward in case of high bilge water level.

But, is something supposed to drain out of the drain tube into the bilge at times? So far nothing has come out of it when I have unplugged it.

Thanks in advance. Pablo

The other end goes to the bilge under the step in the cabin. If you're on a trailer or lift (or just not in the water) the front bilge is lower than the engine bilge and water goes forward. I suggest you leave this plugged.

Ahhhh.... got it! Thank you much. I fixed the "latching/tightening" mechanism and reattached the wire so its not going anywhere.
