2002 312 FasTech footrest

I just picked up a 2002 312 FasTech. It appears that the footrest are adjustable and I know an electric assist was available as an option. I assume the switch was in the arm rests of the bolster seat. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to adjust the footrest manually to a higher position? there are covers on each bolster with wiring behind them. Is that there so you can put the drop down switch on either side? or maybe the wiring is for the footrest. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
