Here's my challenge:
50K + in damage from Hurricane Sandy resulting in all new Engine room electrical-related items including the 6 Watt trickle charger for my Generator Battery. The Charles Charger was mounted high enough on the forward engine room bulkhead and as such, did not suffer saltwater intrusion.
The symptom:
1. Turn on the Battery Charger breaker down below and the Factory-installed sum hum's like crazy. Turn off the Battery Charger breaker and the hum goes away.
2. Disconnect the "new" 6 Watt trickle charger from the Generator Battery, turn on the Battery Charger and the hum does not return.
My reasonable assumption is that the "new" 6 Watt charger is bad. Am I missing anything?
