Posting this so you hopefully don't have to go through the same rigamarole I did.
Here's the thing: the engine hatch won't work with the ski pylon in position, even though the engine hatch doesn't hit the pylon at full open position. Just take the pylon out, and shut the pylon slot door, and everything should work fine.
Super frustrating. There's a note in the documentation in the ski pylon section about this, but it's not reflected in the wiring diagram. Which is what I was working off of. I spent hours testing the motor, the relay, the polarity reversing switch, the reed switch on the transom door, bypassing the reed switch... still wouldn't work! It was then that I noticed there were additional white/blue wires, which I painstakingly followed with my fingers, tracing them back to the.... second reed switch attached to the ski pylon door. Pulled out the pylon, shut the door, and the hatch worked fine.
