Found out today our offer on a 2014 was accepted. I am going to replace all of the cockpit speakers and speakers pointing aft. Does anyone know the size speakers that will fit. Was wanting to put the M6 JL audio speakers in plus a 2nd sub. Will the 8.8 fit or are all the speakers on the formula 6.5 inch? Also any idea on depth ?
and where is the amp located on this model?

looking forward to this boat as we are moving up from a 340 Cruiser Yachts.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the family! I can't help with the speaker question but I'm sure someone will chime in soon (Todd??)

Radiocontester has in depth thread on that. Check perf cruisers link. There are others too that have a wealth of info.. congrats on joining the family

Congratulations.
I just replaced the 6 speakers in the cockpit plus the sub. All are 6.5 and there are depth issues. I had to reconfigure the U bolt in the arch to make room.

Take out the arch speaker and you will get a good idea.

Andrew beat me to it. I did a decent write up when i did mine...

they are all 6.5", and the only depth issues i ran into were on the arch speakers as Oz mentioned. I got rid of the u-bolts that get in the way by using straight bolts, and ended up with plenty of depth. i don't think you can go bigger than the 6.5's though due to depth in the forward ceiling speakers.

personally, i went with WetSounds speakers because i thought they had the best sound...and I added a JL audio tweeter for each speaker in the cockpit. then i swapped the Kenwood amps for WS because they had loads more power. it was audible to say the least. i didn't need any more bass for fear of the boss, so i didn't try another sub. i thought one under the aft couch might work really well though. that would be truly free-air, and subject to the heat of the engine room.

the amps are under the couch down below. the center section.

also, the single best thing you can do for that stereo is re-wire the speakers IMO. they're all part of the single wiring loom and run right past the circuit breakers. once i upgraded the amps i had massive ground hum, and no amount of gadgets was able to solve it...nor a direct ground to the house batteries.

best of luck and congrats on the new boat!!

speaker depth

Oz

besides the arch speakers do you think there is room for 7.7 inch speakers with a depth of 3.3 inches for the other 4 speakers in the cockpit? the 6.5 have a depth of 3 inches.

If there is not enough depth for the speakers, you can have a local shop that fabricates kitchen counter tops make extensions to go under the speaker out of Corian or another solid surface. I made my own years ago from white Corian to match and routed a nice decorative edge around the outside. Will never rot or fade.

kinda bummed 'cause i posted a long response a while ago, but it still doesn't show...trying again.

i have a lengthy post under Modifications when i did my upgrade, might be worth finding...

first, the amps are located under the couch in the salon, center section.

outside of the arch, your other possible problem is the forward ceiling speaker. the depth can be a problem. the 6.5" WetSounds i put in barely fit...not sure how deep they were though. i like GSENT's idea, but one other solution to get more depth is to go with the lighted rings.

if you find my other post, you'll see that i added speakers on my stern...so i didn't have the factory option. i used 6.5" speakers, and i imagine there's room in there...i'd be worried about the overhang that goes into the engine room though. if the factory ones are sealed, i have no idea what you'll see.
