My gently used 1999 280 BR started backfiring recently in the port engine.
I had done a complete tune up on it this spring and it was running perfect until I was out one day cruising at 3000 rpm, when the engine started to backfire.
After rechecking all my tune up work I decided to do a compression test and #4 cylinder was showing 40 psi compression. These motors have 360 hours on them and have never given me a single problem til now.
Mechanic seems to think I may have "tuliped" an intake valve which he says was reletively common in the 90's era 5.7's.
Do any of you have any experience with a tuliped valve and the need to do a valve job after only 360 hours??
Thanks in advance for your replies.
