34pc steering wheel diameter?

I'm upgrading to hydraulic steering, and the steering wheel is the last piece of the puzzle. Does anyone know what the diameter of the stock 34pc steering wheel is? The boat is 2 hours away and I forgot to measure last time I was there.

Assume my 37pc is the ssme.

Yes, your post has actually been a big help. Which steering wheel is that? No biggie getting the lines up to the front, and the cylinder in place of the cable? I'm doing manifolds this year so that should make access to the transom assembly easier. Would have been cake last year when I had the engines out, but oh well. We're going with Simrad NSS 12 evo3, a NSS7 evo3 (with vessel link), Halo 24 radar, AP44 auto pilot display, the pump, controller, HS60 compass, AIS, an rudder sensor. PS I wish our 07 had your 08 dash layout! the NSS12 is a squeeze in that space.

Nice set up. This wheel is Isotta Daponte. Used on Formula 43SSC. Bought it from CP Performance. then got the centercap from Formula. Where did you put the AP Pump? I had someone fabricate a bracket. Coventina AP Installed 2.jpg

That's a nice bracket! I haven't gotten that far yet, I may do the same. At the moment I'm still collecting parts, can't really work on the boat until end of Feb if the weather breaks. Something about 40 degree windy day at the shore isn't appealing to work in.

I hear that. I have a zipper in the shrink wrap, but wont go down unless its 50 degrees or warmer. I try to bring my boat projects home. Where are you? working on the Generator drip pan and shelf over the winter.Coventina Generator Shelf and Drip Pan.jpgCoventina-Generator Removed.jpg

The boat is located in Brick NJ, I'm up in NWNJ sussex county.

Since you have everything apart, is it possible to get the generator out the access hatch? Otherwise I suspect the main hatch and engine have to come out to get it out.

Also, did you mount a rudder feedback indicator with your autopilot?

Hey Joe,

I didnt take the Genny out of the boat. I do not think it would be easy. Definitely will not fit out the day hatch. I just put it on plywood and slid it out to the Port side. I did install a Rudder Feedback Sensor. 1st one failed and was replaced under warranty. Very convenient on display and AP knows not to force the pump Sensor with on a hard turn. PS have a Mercruiser Rudder sensor with Smartcraft DTS and displays on plotter via NEMA 2000 but does not communicate with AP.

Any chance you can snap a pic of the rudder feedback sensor install next time you're at the boat? It wants the sensor center of rotation at the same center as the drive's pivot, which is not possible. In my head the only way to achieve that would be to reverse so it pivots the same distance away from the steering arm as the drive center, but room is tight in there.

The other way I've heard it done is vertical on the transom as on option.

Sorry i have not been there for a few weeks. This week looks pretty warm. i will get some pics for you.

Hey Joe,
Here are some pics of the Garmin Rudder Feedback Sensor. also a partial list of hardware i purchased. I drilled holes in the Transom Assembly to mount the sensor. 2 bolts are plenty. lol. Not sure why my photos are always upside down? Hope this helps.Coventina Rudder Feedback Sensor.jpgCoventina Rudder Feedback Sensor 2.jpgCoventina Rudder Feedback Sensor 3.jpgCoventina Rudder Feedback Hardware.jpg

Thank you, that is a very nice clean install! It's not 100% at the same distance to center as the drives, but it's damn close so it is probably the most linear you can make it.

Centering is not a big concern. When you calibrate the Rudder Sensor you will set Port and Starboard End Stops and Center. Be sure to back off a half turn of the wheel on the End Stops. Im guessing you are using Garmin Smart Pump? If you are, DO NOT recalibrate for Unbalanced Steering Cylinder. Use as is. I wish someone told me. would have saved a
whole lot of headaches.
