40 PC Fresh Water Level Sensor(s)?

Greetings,

My fresh water level gauge seems to be stuck at about 1/3 full. I discovered this when the water pump started to run continuously and the tank was empty. I filled the tank and the gauge still shows 1/3 full.

I figured that it was the level sensor, and expected to find an arm float type, or a tube float, but instead there appears to be three. None have the 3” plate with 5 bolts as I’m used to.

I’m going back down to remove one of what appears to be a sensor, and see what I can find about replacements.

Pictures are of the water level gauge, under the galley sink, the “front” sensor, under the head of the bed by the filler hose, and two under the foot of the bed, near the water supply hose. I also have the wiring diagram, which shows a single “Tank Level Sensor”, but does have 3 wires for Full, ½ and Empty. I’m guessing that I have 3 sensors for each water level?

Can anyone share their experience with sorting out fresh water tank gauge issues? Still a mystery to me…

Your single point fill system seems to be similar to mine, on my 34 PC. Unfortunately I'm in the northeast, and the boat is sleeping for the winter. That being said, from memory, 1 of the sensors is the "full" sensor which should deenergize the the fill solenoid when the tank is full. This should be separate from the gauge connection, probably a normally closed contact that opens when the tank is full, in series with the power to the solenoid. I believe, but am not certain that the other 2 are for the gauge, best to pull them and inspect them. On a side note, be careful what you lean on when you have the mattress off some of the small hatches, giving access to the water tank, have brackets that are attached with wood screws, from the bottom, if you put too much weight on them the screws pull out of the pressboard. Ask me how I know this? LOL

It was a stuck float. I removed the mattress to get a good view, and pulled the two sensors near the foot of the bed. I left the 3rd near the head of the bed in place.
Sure enough, one was clearly for signaling when the tank was "full" (the short one with dark gray plastic fitting). The other, in my case with the aluminum fitting, reached to the bottom of the tank, and was stuck as you see it. There was something that looked like Styrofoam stuck between the rod and float, and after clearing that, it worked just fine.
I now know that I can lift the foot of the mattress and reach the "gauge sensor" should it happen again.
Thanks for all the tips and suggestions!
