Today I changed the exhaust pressure relief hoses. I did not realize how bad they were till I took them out. In line on the hoses is a metal tube which might act as a muffler. The holes were completely plugged up from 11 years of soot. Once it was back together I could not believe how the back pressure was blowing out the side of the boat. What a difference.

yes! Just had this done at the end of the season. World of difference at idle, too.
Gosh I have to say I'm not sure exactly what this means I have an 09 with a couple hundred hours on it do I need to worry about this

I have a 2004 with 1100 hours. Hopefully, toofast, you have a few more cruises before you need to worry about it. But my mechanics didn't think to check the low pressure exhausts because I am only 1 of 4 Formulas (and the only diesel Formula) out of 300+ boats in our marina. Worth keeping an eye on.

I think that your boat is IPS.I don’t know that you have the same set up. Does your boat have port and starboard exhaust on the sides of your boat? My boat has exhaust pressure relief hoses on either side due to having an under water exhaust.Although your boat does have under water exhaust.
